• You are a very brave woman. Thank you for your honesty in writing this book. I feel very many of us have been quite ignorant about what is and has happened in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
• Enjoyed every bit her incredible story. An honest presentation of the obscure reality. Beautifully written, makes you feel as the part of her adventure. Makes me cry to know about the fate of Kama village in the last pages.

• It was refreshing to read Ms Ridley's experiences, on a first hand basis. Prefer to investigate rather than accept unquestioningly the West's perspectives on anything Eastern or Arab or Muslim. Thank you Ms Ridley, for your honesty and bravery.
• Visceral and enthralling, Ms. Ridley writes this "you are there" thriller like the pro she is. Never hiding personal flaws, she wears them like armor and chaffs at politically correct nonsense around the fringes of her story. She is brave, naive, relentless, imperfect and courageous. Her natural instinct at colorful expression does her in only yards from safety, after which she suffers much less than one might think. A seeming casual exchange with a captor leads to a promise to "look into" the Muslim religion when asked if she wants to convert to Islam. She eventually does give Islam a try when she returns to the U.K., and likes it. This is her story, raw, uncovered, and surprisingly frank. Her emotions, although expressed matter-of-factly, are real and sincere. Another piece in the puzzle that is the enigma we call the Global War on Terror. Read it.
• This has to be one of the most exciting books i have read. A foreign or a western woman in Afghanistan under Taliban rule who remarkably tells the world in her beautiful words that they are just humans like you and me. Think the Talibhan deserve a chance, and Yvonne Ridley tells how they really are. Gives a true first hand account of what has happened in Afghanistan. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
• I must want to appreciate that lady for her courage , for her truthfulnesss. she could have lied like western media.....oh these were really bad, they obused me physically and...., they are crazy, but God gave her a beautiful and bold heart ,GOD Bless you Lady , you are lucky, you saw the light and you are following that light.
